But I certainly didn’t have it all figured out when I started…

I qualified as a massage therapist in February 2020. A few weeks later, the country went into lockdown.
But I’d already started building my business while I was training — practising, getting visible locally and learning how to market myself.
By October 2021, less than two years after qualifying, my clinic was fully booked across the hours I wanted to work. I left my NHS job and went on to build a waiting list of around 100 people.
Today, I still run my therapy practice alongside my other businesses and my work with the School of Bodywork. My experience in the profession has also taken me beyond the treatment room — from tutoring and examining to business education and speaking at the National Massage Championship.
I didn’t get there because I found the perfect business strategy.
I learnt how to make decisions, notice what was working, change what wasn’t and build a business that worked for me.
That’s what I now help other therapists do.

Your business has to work for you — not just look successful from the outside.
More clients aren't always the answer. Neither is posting more, raising your prices or adding another treatment.
Sometimes the thing that's holding a business back is much less obvious. That's why I don't start with a formula or a list of things you should be doing. I start by understanding what's actually happening in your business.
Then we work out what matters next.
